Day long course designed specifically for dental practitioners preparing them and their staff to manage common medical emergencies which may arise in a dental practice. Focus is on initial management and support. Includes algorithms for the management of medical emergencies. This course counts as 6 hours verifiable CPD for those dental care professionals registered with the General Dental Council in Managment of Medical Emergencies.

  • Common medical emergencies Chest pain, asthma, fitting, unconscious patient, hypoglycaemia, breathing difficulties, anaphylaxis
  • Structured assessment of the sick patient
  • Initial resuscitation
  • Drugs and appropriate administration for dental practice
  • Safe defibrillation (AED)
  • Airway management with adjuncts
  • Medical emergency treatment algorithms
  • Universal treatment algorithm for management of cardiac arrest
  • Resuscitation & Emergency equipment for dental practice
  • Hand over and transfer
